This painting was born from walking along the trails of Georgian Bay, hearing the flow of water in the distance before seeing it. I seem to be drawn to places where water meets granite again and again, wearing it down not through force, but through time and patience.
In this painting, I focused on the cool mass of shadowed rock, the softened edges shaped by centuries of flow, and the force of gravity steadily doing its work.
Standing near a waterfall, I often find myself wondering where all this water comes from and feeling a deep sense of gratitude for how fortunate we are in Canada to have such an abundance of "fresh" water, while other parts of the world face severe drought.
At its core, the piece is about balance. Water moves, stone remains, and neither dominates the other.
