Standing on the rocks along Georgian Bay, I tried to capture that wind-brushed moment where everything feels open and alive. The water shifted between turquoise and pale green, blending into a hazy horizon beneath soft, drifting clouds. I tried to focused on the warmth of the Canadian Shield underfoot—those ochres and rust tones shaped by time—and the way sparse grasses cling to the stone. The pines, slightly bent and restless, framed my view as I painted, their movement hinting at the breeze. I let the shoreline lead outward, following the gentle rhythm of the shoreline, while holding onto the calm I experienced there.
The composition is anchored by a sweeping foreground of water that draws the eye toward the distant treeline, where the horizon sits low and steady to emphasize the openness of sky and rock.
